SAMPLE LETTER Print/Send
This Letter
Officials of Mobile County, Alabama:
I write to ask that the City Attorney and officials ensure a thorough investigation
of Prichard Animal Shelter and its staff. If evidence of animal
cruelty is found, I urge you to charge all parties involved and prosecute them under
Alabama State's anti-cruelty laws.
If Prichard law enforcement fails to find sufficient evidence or conduct an
investigation, and no findings are disclosed to the public, I
encourage the Mobile District Attorney's office to conduct their own investigation.
Someone must determine if animal cruelty was committed at Prichard Animal Shelter
when a couple, searching for their own dog, discovered
the rotting body of another dog in the feces and urine soaked facility. Witnesses say
they gasped at the alleged stench and sight of the little
dog's stiff body and injured, gaping jaw.
Those entrusted to protect companion animals must be held accountable for crimes of
abuse and neglect. I hope you will take swift punitive
action against anyone who ignored or contributed to this innocent creature's death.
Sincerely,

about web petitions
When you use the web petition instead of direct-send, your comments — and everyone else's — come from one place: Our website server.
WEB PETITIONS REQUIRE THE LEAST EFFORT, BUT SOMETIMES CAN:
- Create a spam effect that angers recipients and hurts outcome for animals.
- Compel recipients to block the entire petition, so no one's comments get through.

UPDATE - 11/13/09: No Justice For Little No-
Name & Others Unwanted
SOURCE: Sandra Nathan-Moody
11/13/09, SUMMARY: "A heartfelt thank you to everyone for caring about Little No
Name. Unfortunately, there will be no justice for this dog
left to
rot after dying inside an Alabama pound. Any findings from the "investigation" (Chief
Batistte's "looking into it") haven't been disclosed. The
evidence, Little No Name's decaying body, was thrown away like trash. Worse, the eye
witnesses vanished and do not want to come forward to
press charges. Little No Name's struggle to exist as an unwanted dog ended in painful
death. Alabama has no state mandated standards for
animal control pounds. Only legislation will provide protection for animals behind
the closed doors of Alabama's pounds. Don't forget Little
No Name. I won't." Alabama resident and Kinship Circle member, Sandra Nathan-Moody

Animal Shelter
BACKGROUND: He was one more homeless dog, given no name
or refuge, existing in the shadows...
His life likely began in abandonment and consisted of daily struggle for life on the
streets of prichard, Alabama. His struggle ended in the
ultimate betrayal, while impounded at prichard Animal Shelter. Visitors searching for
their own lost dog discovered his decaying body in the
back of what they say was a stinking, feces and urine soaked facility.
Witnesses gasped at the stench and sight of this poor dog's rotting eyeballs oozing
down his injured, gaping jaw... The dog, "Little No Name" I
call him, has no one to remember his painful death. The other dogs and cats who
languish here...have no one to turn to, but YOU.
