KINSHIP CIRCLE-IDA DEPLOY FOR BRAZIL FLOODS/MUDSLIDES — Catastrophic floods and landslides in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro’s mountain region are linked to over 700 deaths. In hard hit towns, animals (estimated in the tens of thousands or more) need food, water, shelter, and vet care for wounds and disease. “In the worst areas we see broken bones, burns and gashes. The need for veterinary skills/supplies is high, so we can help our Brazilian colleagues treat these poor animals,” notes Kinship Circle executive director Brenda Shoss.
Kinship Circle, partnering with In Defense of Animals (IDA), has been asked to assist in rescue, first aid, vet care, and emergency sheltering. PLEASE HELP US BRING HOPE TO BRAZIL!
KINSHIP CIRCLE & IN DEFENSE OF ANIMALS JOIN FORCES! Crisis in Brazil marks the start of Kinship Circle’s partnership with In Defense of Animals (IDA). Kinship Circle and IDA share 30+ years combined animal disaster aid experience in over 35 countries. As disasters strike, we’ll jointly assess impact on animals — and determine deployment logistics in order to send trained disaster responders for search and rescue, medical aid, crisis sheltering, etc. The union of resources between two dedicated groups expands communication and action — so we can reach stranded animals quickly.

GULF OIL DISASTER — Over summer 2010, Kinship Circle focused on wildlife harmed in the
Deepwater Horizon disaster. Partnering with World Animal Awareness Society for ALL EYES ON THE GULF Expedition, we combed beaches, estatuaries, nesting grounds and open waters — traveling hundreds of miles daily in LA, MS, AL, FL — to find distressed animals and map
oil impact.
CHILE EARTHQUAKE & TSUMANI — On 2/27/10, an 8.8-magnitude earthquake struck Chile, displacing some 2 million people. Soon after, tsunamis swept over coastal towns. Kinship Circle worked with Socorro Animal Chile (SACH) — a coalition of Chilean animal groups — bringing aid to animals along Chile's ravaged cost. We also fell in love with the people and animals of Chile, a nation with the largest stray population in South
America. We continue to support first aid and vet care for Chile's disaster impacted animals.
