Like many pets, Cassitilly was injured when a tornado ripped through Castillian Springs in Sumner County. Fortunately, Connie McKenzie, a freelance photographer, heard her cries on Wednesday afternoon. The cat's rear leg was trapped under a fallen tree.

Cassitilly's guardian suffered a broken back as well. Currently in the hospital, the guardian has been forced to make the tough decision to give up Cassitilly, as she may no longer be able to care for her.
