Animal Rescue New Orleans is no longer operating from the Magazine &
Felicity site in New Orleans.

Effective immediately
RESIDENT FEEDERS and INCOMING VOLUNTEERS, report to:
Celebration Station
5959 Veterans Memorial Blvd.
Metairie, LA 70003

We are now working with Best Friends to put more people, space and energy behind this last stretch of hurricane rescue. We ask for your patience during the transition, as administrative issues are fine tuned. Celebration Station will also function as a shelter for rescued animals, so we need all volunteers to pitch in with animal care, dog walking, etc.

We currently have over 3,000 locations in our database where animals have been reported hiding under porches and homes. Many are still out there. Around corners. In sewers. On ledges. In the woods. If not us, who will hear them? Please volunteer your time and heart for animals in New Orleans.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED THROUGH DECEMBER & JANUARY, at which time we’ll update you.
We still have thousands of locations in our database where animals have been reported hiding under porches and homes. Many are still out there. Around corners. In sewers. On ledges. In the woods.

Animals struggle to survive in a desolate, unstable environment that lacks usual food sources such as good Samaritan feedings or garbage output. Many of these animals languish in low populated areas slated for bulldozing. In addition, animals set to give birth exacerbate the problem tremendously...

If not us, who will hear them? Please volunteer your time and heart for animals in New Orleans.

HOW TO VOLUNTEER FOR ARNO:
**If you have firm arrive/depart dates in New Orleans, and do not hear from us immediately after sending info required below, PLEASE GO. Due to email volume, we cannot always respond quickly—but we have recorded your information for dispatch.

PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT US UNTIL YOU KNOW YOUR ARRIVE/DEPART DATES.

EMAIL Brenda: info@kinshipcircle.org
OR  Kate: katedanaher@animalearthhuman.org
PLEASE EMAIL ONE OR THE OTHER, NOT BOTH. SEND ONE TIME ONLY.
Duplicates are slowing down volunteer intake.

In your email, state:
* Full name / Name of organization (if applicable):
* Street, city, state, zip:
* Cell phone, land phone:
* Email address:
* Brief description of experience working with animals:
* ARRIVE/DEPART dates in New Orleans:
* Where did you hear about us or see our alert?
  Kinship Circle Hurricane Alerts, Best Friends, ARNO site, other blog, website or list?

* Do you currently receive Kinship Circle’s Hurricane Alerts?
  (from info@kinshipcircle.org or disasteraid@kinshipcircle.org)

Type “HURRICANE VOLUNTEER” in the subject line of your email, or we may miss it.

If you are an Animal Control Officer, Veterinarian/Vet Tech, or Experienced Humane Trapper  state this in subject line of email. I.E., HURRICANE VOLUNTEER: Animal Control Officer

WHAT DO VOLUNTEERS DO?
1. FEED AND WATER TEAMS: Responsible for keeping animals alive until they can be trapped. Does not require any specialized skills...just compassion and will!

2. ANIMAL CAREGIVERS AT THE NEW ORLEANS SHELTER: We need volunteers for animal care/socialization, dog walking, cleaning cages, animal intake, etc.

3. TRAPPING TEAMS: Animal Control Officers, DVMs, Vet Techs or Individuals with Experience Trapping Animals. These volunteers are encouraged to spend at least one week in New Orleans.

4. RESCUE TEAMS: Rescue animals described in calls to our dispatch number as “animals in need.” Teams also comb city to pick up street animals who approach them without need to trap. Animal handling experience necessary.

5. ADMINISTRATIVE: “Log-in people” are essential! Administrative/computer volunteers needed on site to help track animals, record identity information, do data entry and photography, answer phones.

6. BUILDER-BOB TYPES / MECHANICALLY INCLINED: Pack your tools and come right away—to help construct dog runs and catteries at the new facility in New Orleans. Best Friends is looking for five to six mechanically inclined individuals to begin now. Submit a volunteer form:
